My Project

I teach a College and Career Readiness course for middle school students. My students are smart, kind, helpful, and witty in a way that only middle school students can be. We have a lot of fun in class but we also focus a great deal of our time on soft skills. Students who can work together, problem solve, resolve conflicts, communicate effectively, manage emotions, and stay organized are better prepared for their future success. These are skills that need to be explicitly taught to students. We also go over skills like college and career training research, how to budget, how to read a paycheck, and so much more. The requested paper, binding combs, and plastic covers will be used to create workbooks to document our progress. These workbooks will belong to students and they can take the workbooks with them when the course is over. Students can keep the workbooks as a form of reference when needed.

Hopefully, the books will be a tangible resource for students to use and will also help to answer the age-old question "Will we need to know this in real life?"

The requested Kleenex will be used throughout the year to keep students healthy. The pencils, folders, and dry erase markers will be used by students to complete coursework as needed.
