This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine living in NYC but because you go to school in the Bronx, you only have a 70% chance of graduating High School? Now add to this the fact that you came to High School speaking a language other than English- and your chances of graduation get even smaller.

I teach at a high school in the heart of the Bronx helping students who are learning English become college-ready in math and science.

A lot of our students move quickly into learning English- even if they struggle with literacy in their home language. Although they enter our school with little limited English, we join them in their goal of graduating high school in just 4 years. They are hard-working and want to make a better future - for themselves, and our city.

My Project

Students want to be good at math, but my students have had so much practice failing in a math class that solving a complex math problem seems impossible. But it's not!

With a document camera, I can show them step by step how they can apply their math skills to complex problems and be successful.

A document camera allows me to solve problems, graph, model how to use a graphing calculator both during remote learning and in-person learning. A document camera will allow me to show my students everything they need to be successful in my class.
