Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am very excited to be teaching kindergarten as a special education teacher this year in an integrated co-teaching classroom. My classroom consists of 10 students with special needs and 15 students of mixed English Language Learners and general education students. Students here are not only diverse academically, but economically and culturally as well. My students face many challenges every day, in school and out. My school has a very large population of low poverty, as well as children in shelters.

I am fortunate as a teacher to be part of New York City's Computer Science for All (CS4All) initiative that ensures that all students learn computer science!

To implement this better in the classroom, I am asking for materials that will help me teach computer science at the kindergarten level! It's very exciting!

My Project

A document camera in the classroom will help with instruction in all subject areas. The way it works is when you place something under the document camera, it is visible on a larger screen for all to see.

With this tool, students can easily share their work to the class!

Students are also able to manipulate counters during math so that the entire class can watch what they are doing on the Triumph board. It will be easy to go over classroom work or homework by projecting it for everyone to see. Without a document camera, paper documents are too small to see when holding it up for 25 students to see. Please help me get this document camera!
