This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help my students perform! My students thrive when they are engaged and love the spotlight. Unfortunately, its hard for them to show off their amazing projects in a classroom full of 30 students.

My students are from low-income communities in the Bronx who travel as far as 1.5 hours to attend my school, which is focused on the arts and theater.

They are a dynamic group who are always excited to create and share their work. I want to help increase their excitement for science by giving students a feeling of ownership and pride for their work.

My Project

A document camera will be a wonderful addition to the classroom. My students love to present their work to the class, but its difficult for the other 30 students in the class to really see it. The document camera will increase engagement as students take ownership for their classwork. The microscope adapter will allow me to magnify images that the entire class can see at once! It will also help me model laboratory procedures and dissections.

The document camera can be used in so many ways in the classroom.

It can help with engagement, with literacy, with differentiation, modeling, and demonstrations. Most importantly, it will increase my students' effort and pride in their work when they are the ones in the spotlight!
