Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk through the doors of my elementary school ready to learn. They are eager learners that use the resources available to them to become better mathematicians. They know that to be successful in the real world they must develop excellent number sense. They are taught to love math and use it every day as a source of enjoyment.

My students are hungry for knowledge about the world they will soon inherit.

We have amazing support from our families. Even with family support additional money is needed to provide my students with resources to be amazing mathematicians.

My Project

Our school has the Zearn On-line Math Program. Our students love the ability to complete lessons at their own pace. The program is set-up to teach a digital lesson through a 5-8 minute video and then complete skill tasks.

We have seen improvement in scores but more importantly we have seen an improvement in student engagement.

While students are guided through the lessons , other students have the chance to engage in one-on-one instruction with myself during small-group lessons.This is the type of direct instruction and sel-paced learning that our students desperately need. Without headphones students are unable to complete Zearn lessons independently. Please consider helping our class.
