This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 4th grade Special Education in a Chicago Public School. This school is also in a predominately Latino/high-need community.
How would you feel if you were one of the few kids in your classroom who couldn't read? Many students with special needs are often overlooked; oftentimes, they aren't exposed to books at their level.
Well, my students really struggle with reading, and often say they hate it. I want my students to LOVE reading!
With a listening library they'll be able to hear the books come alive! They'll be able to follow along in their favorite books and hear the story on CD, using the portable cd players. Not only that, they'll be able to relax and enjoy their books on a cool new classroom rug. No more sitting at their hard desks and reading books. They be able to make themselves comfortable in our new classroom listening library!
