My Students

The difficulty with our camcorder is that we cannot find someone to videotape the lessons while we are engaged with the students. One suitable location for the camera is the back of the room. For convenience, we need an extra zoom, a flash, a tripod, a longer life battery, and other accessories.

I teach A/P Calculus, Algebra & Trigonometry, and Physics to students with a wide range of skill sets.

Though they all come to class ready to learn, some of them are having difficulties grasping the concepts during class time. The amount of time we have for a class period is not enough for some students to fully benefit from the lesson. Even though we have after school tutorial services almost everyday, the number of students requesting the services still make it hard to reach out to everyone.

My Project

With our camera, we can record the lessons and make them available for all the students to revisit and learn what they might have missed in class, so that they ask targeted questions for me to focus on. These videos will help put more time in my hand during the after school tutoring programs; because students can work either independently or in groups on different computer stations. With these accessories, our camera will be more effectively used to serve our purpose.

Repetition is key.

Since the class period is short, about 43 minutes, this camera will play a role of extending our scholars' exposures to the material. In case of a student being absent, or if I need to take a day off, I can always make the lesson available to the students so that the absence is not felt. With your help, we can make this project a reality for our scholars.
