Do We See What You Hear?

Help me give my students five Chromebooks to enable them to do their classroom assignments online utilizing the new curriculum. They are all visual learners and technology will greatly benefit them.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students from Richmond are part of the Exceptional Education program that provides services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. This program gives children from all cultures, areas, and various incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive within the district. My energetic students enter the classroom ready to learn with a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing that can communicate in their language which is American Sign Language.

"Deaf People can do anything except hear" I King Jordan, former President at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC.

They are fearless when it comes to technology and, as children of the 21st century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to better prepare themselves for the future that lies ahead of them.

My Project

My students are Deaf and Hard of Hearing and rely on American Sign Language as their mode of communication. As their teacher, I often use images from the computer to explain what is being taught. They have to see things visually in order to understand what they are learning.

Curtis Pride, a professional baseball player said: "I am not going to use my deafness as an excuse for not being successful".

This quote represents what I instil in my students on a daily basis. I often remind them that "Deaf People Can Do Anything BUT Hear".

With the use of Chromebooks, they will be able to explain clearly what they are trying to say as well as seeing things visually because they rely on their EYES not their EARS for learning.
