My Project

My students enliven creativity within me with the dedication they show in attaining education. Despite difficult set backs, impoverished settings, and learning disabilities, the students in my self contained special education class give their best efforts to learn. To help inspire them, I've designed "Do Not Open Till..." kits that the students can anticipate opening throughout the year. The kits will be comprised of the requested materials. The "Do Not Open Till" kits will be on display throughout the entire year and will be opened on the day indicated on the outside of the kit. For example, there will be a kit for Birthdays, Valentines, Halloween, Christmas, Nevada Reading Week and the last day of school. I've also requested a wireless presenter to facilitate flow of teaching, and a stuffed animal for a class pet.

Active learning and student motivation are two of the most critical elements in engaged learning.

My experience has shown that students who are enjoying the learning process stay committed to learning, even during lessons that are difficult for them to grasp.
