As a first time lead teacher for first grade, I want to make sure my students have everything they need in the classroom. My first grade students need to know that they matter and that a classroom was set up for them to feel comfortable in and they have everything they need to succeed in the classroom. I have a couple of math and reading games that can help benefit my students learning, while also having fun. Some of the students prefer to bring their own lunch to school. With a microwave and refrigerator, I will be able to store their lunch and warm it up in the classroom.
Creating a Calm Classroom Climate.
Having a calm down corner in a classroom that looks like I put in effort to make, will make the students feel more comfortable in it. A student can go there to do some deep breathing, a few stretches, or even squeeze a stress ball to calm themselves before returning to the lesson. I want the classroom climate to remain calm and build a positive culture with my students. My goal is to give my students every opportunity to learn something new. Whether its with a game, a lesson or in the calm down corner. My focus is to make sure they are able to add and subtract and be able to read story problems.
Children love a theme classroom. So, why not bring the beach to the students? I chose a theme based off of what my students talked about that they enjoyed the most. The things on the list will help me set up the classroom and set me up for success for the new school year. My students are amazing and they deserve to have a classroom reflect that.
