My Students
My students are going to college. I teach in the heart of the Bronx, New York. My students come from all over the Bronx, from many different neighborhoods. They want to learn and are eager to learn. They are excited about their future!
Although growing up in poor and underserved neighborboods, my students understand the importance of their education.
Many of my students will be the first in their families to attend and graduate college. They will be breaking cycles of poverty for their generations and also helping heir communities.
My Project
Students will be able to enjoy a range of diverse books during their independent reading time. In order to get students excited about reading, it is important to have books and materials that will spark their interest.
The Harry Potter books translated in Spanish will allow my students who are English language learners to enjoy this classic piece of literature.
Engaging students in independent reading is easier and much more successful if and when they have a variety of books to choose from. These books wills enhance our class libraries and hopefully breathe new life into our independent reading program.
