Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are English Language Learners in a low-income neighborhood in south Oklahoma City, they will start their summer vacation in three days.

When they come back from summer vacation, I would love that my student have a new carpet to sit on comfortably for an enjoyable learning experience!!

Mostly we use Total Physical Response (TPR), which is a comprehension approach method to learn a new language. It is based on the coordination of language and physical movement. A language is learned primarily by listening, then engaging in correlated movements, and all must be in an environment without any stress. And this carpet not only will be comfortable but it send my students a positive message.

My Project

My Newcomers students need to complete some mini projects, and a new carpet will be a great resource for them to work in their assignments; also, they will do hands-on activities and instructional games that reinforce their learning in a fun way.

Since my students soon will start their summer vacation, when they come back, I will surprise them with a comfortable place to gather in engaging learning activities.

My students work guided and independently on the carpet to practice their language skills in many ways daily. I hope I can get this useful material for daily teaching.
