Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in the heart of Los Angeles in Korea Town. Our school uses the pilot school model to create a progressive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

We welcome and build on this diversity by offering Dual Language learning in both Korean and Spanish.

We also offer Mandarin supplemental programs. This is all in an effort to build a global perspective for our students and their families. We believe that by knowing the world and the richness of different cultures, we will build a global citizen.

My Project

I would like to build a classroom library that includes picture books that teach about cultures and ethnicities around the world and teach social justice. A Global Education Library includes books that reflect the cultures represented at my school in inner city Los Angeles.

I want my students to see themselves in the stories they read and learn about cultures other than their own.

My school focuses on Global Education, and our classroom library should reflect this focus. These picture books will help me teach students that everyone's diverse backgrounds are beautiful, meaningful, and powerful.
