Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students are creative, clever, and very spontaneous.

I like my classroom to be a hands-on, fun learning environment.

My Project

These materials are books to help increase my student's understanding of what is happening around them in the world. Even though they are young these books provide some wonderful illustrations that can start a wonderful conversation about race and inequality.

Schools, in collaboration with families, have an important role to play in fostering young children’s positive racial identities.

Over the summer I will continue to reach my students with these inspiring books about who they are as well as who are the people around them. These materials will help increase their knowledge even though we are not in our classroom.
