In my first grade classroom, we have twenty students (but growing) with varying exceptionalities, learning styles, and needs.
My classroom is made up of tiny scientists, authors, mathematicians, artists, naturalists, musicians, athletes, etc!
They are enthusiastic about learning and come to school each day with a positive attitude!
My school follows an inclusion model, so each student feels included and part of our class. In the classroom, we work on important life skills each day such as responsibility, independence, patience, flexibility, kindness, initiative, and cooperation. We are a little class family and it shows!
My Project
These books and gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers will give my students and I access to valuable resources to integrate into my curriculum. It is is important to have an array of books for students to be read and also, have access to read on their own. I read that students relate better to human characters then animal characters. What better way to help them relate than to have characters that look like them, too? Thus, this project will help diversify my classroom library and also, purchase amazing lessons on teachers pay teachers that will help support these picture books. All students need to be able to see themselves in literature and feel included.
