My Students

My third grade class is full of energy and enthusiasm. My students come to my room every morning with a variety of emotional and academics challenges. I am constantly inspired by their perseverance and commitment to learning. My students struggled with distance learning at the end of last school year. A large percentage of our students are learning below grade level and need extra assistance and materials to help make learning at home beneficial for them.

My students are creative, caring, compassionate, and love to learn.

They are not afforded the same opportunities as students in other schools. My students deserve to have educational materials that are current, relevant and engaging. As a teacher of all black and brown scholars, I feel an additional responsibility to make sure my students have the supplies they need at home to make distance learning successful for them.

My Project

These materials will allow me to provide my students with hands on manipulatives and activities during distance learning. Many of my students struggled with online activities during distance learning. With these workbooks and materials I will be able to provide activities for my students that meet their needs. The workbooks will allow me to provide review materials that parents can help their students with at home. The manipulatives will allow students to follow along with online activities with the benefit of hands on learning.

My students do not always have adults at home to help them with their learning.

I need to be able to provide activities for them that they can complete independently. I want my students to feel successful during distance learning and not frustrated. Many of my students are behind in reading and math and I cannot allow distance learning to increase that gap.
