Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have 50 amazing 1st-grade students who come from low-income households. In my classroom, we focus on growing not only academically but also finding out more about who we are as individuals. We celebrate our diversity, and together we make our classroom a home. This helps my students learn how to bond, work together, and become each other's family away from home. Our current classroom is composed of traditional desks and chairs. I have noticed that I have all types of learners and the traditional type of seating is not working for them. My project will give students choice in seating where they can focus, learn, and also go into a calming stage.

My students are diverse learners and individuals who need something that is going to help their busy bodies stay more calm, alert, and focused!

My first graders come to school with a variety of needs, such as the inability to focus, ADHD, autism, trying to process information, and coping with their constant need for acceptance from their peers. Our classroom becomes their second home. By having the opportunity to have new seating, and fidget chair bands, my students will truly be able to be sit comfortably throughout the day. Our classroom will be their safe place and their home away from home!
