Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our class is comprised of twenty, excited, third grade inquirers who are jubilant to embark upon this new learning year. We want to support and nourish their new classroom experience. They enjoy flexible learning options that are provided in the workshop curriculum which require a highly organized environment.

My students are caring, gregarious, open minded, balanced, and reflective.

They are eager to begin the new year and thrilled to explore new learning options in the classroom. They possess an inspirational attitude towards learning. Their love of learning is visible everyday and is very inspirational!

My Project

One of our favorite parts of our learning day is diving into a new story book! This project was created to add more diverse books to our classroom library. Providing diverse books will allow students the opportunity to connect in a meaningful way to a global community. According to Webster's Dictionary, "the concept of diversity encompasses acceptance and respect." It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences.

Books can be like mirrors that provide an opportunity for students to see themselves in the literature.

Also, these books can begin important discussions in the classroom about understanding each other and how we are all unique.

This project will bring TONS of new books into our classroom! Adding diverse books to our classroom, such as Bi-Bim Bop, Eyes That Kiss In the Corners, Papa, Daddy, and Riley, and many more will provide more "mirrors" and "windows" in our classroom! These diverse books will serve as a beautiful starting point for important conversations.
