My Students

My students are in Fifth grade. They include English Language Learners, Reclassified Els, and English Language Only students. Several of my students receive Special Education and Resource services. Others are designated as Gifted. All students at my school receive free breakfast in the classroom and free lunch.

The majority of my students do not have adequate reading material at home to help them grow as readers, but they want to grow and improve their skills.

I am seeking resources to help them focus better and improve their learning & social skills to be able to enter middle school on grade level.

My Project

I have chosen a selection of reading material on a variety of reading levels in order to be accessible and engaging for all of my readers. Within the theme of kindness and understanding others,

I have selected both fiction and non-fiction titles, covering several current and historical figures from a variety of topics, including sports, art, and the struggles for justice and equality.

I have also included a teaching guide to help me create instruction to develop my students' mindfulness and character awareness skills.

As they engage in these materials, my students will be improving their reading skills and hopefully developing their love for reading, while also learning about diversity and developing character.
