My Students

As a new teacher, I have been blessed with the gift of beginning my teaching career, surrounded by seventh-grade students. Their creative minds and ecstatic personalities make every day unique, and it's own. In a sixth through eighth-grade middle school, my seventh-grade students are the "middle-man" of the school and continue to be role models and leaders for others around their school academically and with high values. They have many years of academic growth and emotional challenges, yet will soon get more responsibility and knowledge moving to high school, giving them the wondrous life of leadership and learning.

As a seventh-grade English/Language Arts and Social Studies teacher, my classroom is a world full of passionate learners and readers that come from low-income housing and are on the hunt for inspiration to make their school and individual lives a success.

My students come from different personal and learning backgrounds. However, they are all seeking an adventure from their every day lives. With support, they will reach their goals academically and personally.

My Project

These books will continue to enhance my classroom library that I strive to enhance with materials that reach every student's needs and interests. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care. My students are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with regard to a recent survey I have given my students that asked about their favorite genres and plot interests. Students are given the opportunity to choose their own book during independent reading time to create a love and passion for literature.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.

They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase a passion for literacy is to read more, and these books will provide that opportunity for my students. My students already have shown an interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences.
