My Students

My third graders are inquisitive, caring, hardworking students. My class is in a high-need, low-income public school, nestled in the heart of Southern California. The administrators, teachers, and parents collaboratively work toward developing each student into a future productive and successful citizen. Our school is a Science, Technology, Math Magnet and is committed to STEM education as well as character development.

I hope to instill in them hands-on lessons that will last a lifetime.

You can help facilitate that! Your donation will give my students the tools they need to learn these valuable lessons that will stick with them as they grow. My students enthusiastically come to school inquisitive and excited to learn.

I encourage each child in my class to do their best in all they do, even when school is a challenge for them. I do my best to ensure that every student has a place to feel like they can try new things and explore both academically and socially.

My Project

During this time of Distance Learning, I am reading picture books aloud which is something students of every age love! We are trying to fill our virtual bookshelf with a screenshot of each book cover that I read aloud. Our goal is 180 books in 180 days! Right now we do this on Zoom and hopefully one day we can continue in person. These hardcover books will be used and loved for years to come.

The books I selected include topics such as diversity, antiracism, equal rights, inclusion, and being proud of ourselves as unique individuals.

Living in Los Angeles is a blend of cultures and people from all over the world. We celebrate that diversity but also earn that we can do great things and make a difference in the world. We learn how to do this by studying history through these books as well as learning to love and respect each other.
