My Students

In the upcoming school year I will have the honor of teaching 19 incredible third grade students. Our community is very diverse with a heavy military population. My students face adversity with strength and resilience. As we return from the extended Covid shut down, followed by the summer break, they will need extra love, patience and attention to get them back on track and achieving at their full potential.

My Project

Seeing yourself represented in books, movies and TV is so important to the development of a child. It allows them to see they have a place in the world, that they are valued and that they matter.

I want all of my students to feel they belong, and one way I can do that is to make sure they see themselves in the books I have available for them in our class library.

I am creating a diverse library for my students, so no matter what they look like, where they are from, or disabilities they have, they will be able to see themselves represented in the hero's of our class library.
