My students need furniture that can foster communication and collaboration. We need a comfortable space that can be flexible to meet the needs of different sized groups.

My Students

My students are motivated learners that are thirsty for new knowledge. They enjoy a variety of learning experiences and hands-on activities. We use technology on a daily basis and are learning how to use technology as a tool, not a toy.

We attract students from diverse backgrounds from all over Wake County.

At our school, we value the talents of all children. As a Magnet School, we aim to provide resources and materials to maximize student learning and hold students' interest. We strive to make learning fun!

My Project

The different seating options will supplement our existing furniture. My class works collaboratively in groups of 2-6, daily. Students will be able to get comfortable and work in a space suitable for their group's needs.

Collaboration is a crucial skill students need in order to be successful in college and careers.

Donors will contribute to an atmosphere that mimics the workplace instead of a typical classroom. Students may use the ottoman storage seats to gather around in a circle or sit next to a partner. The coffee tables will be painted with whiteboard paint so they can be written on. Some groups may choose to sit on a futon and write out thoughts on the coffee table for all group members to see. Other students may be more comfortable laying on the dog bed cushions on the floor. No matter their learning style, all students will find a place to collaborate with their peers!
