This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are located in Queens, New York. The coronavirus has had a significantly high impact here. Our schools have been closed since March and will remain closed for the rest of the school year. My special educations students have heavily relied on our routine and their worlds were instantly flipped upside down as a result of the current pandemic. Throughout this challenging time, there is one thing that has never changed. My students are still amazing, curious, and eager to learn! Although we never expected to transition to distance learning, we have made the best out of it.

Under these unforeseen circumstances, my students have never given up or lost motivation.

However, they are lacking many supplies that could increase their learning.

We are a Title I school. My students come from low income households and do not have accessibility to supplies that they need.

My Project

As a special education teacher, it is my job to make sure that all of my students learning needs are met. Many of my students have a hard time completing work through technology and are lacking the supplies that they need.

With your help, these materials can help better their educational experience when we come back to learning in school and while we finish the rest of the school year through online learning.

Their learning experience will become much more valuable. My students would highly benefit from the creative options that these markers, paper, pencils, etc. would provide them with. Many of my students are hands on learners that need these supplies to complete assignments. They are faced with so many hardships. School supplies should be the least of anyones worries throughout this challenging time that New York City has been facing.
