My Students

Take a moment to think about your kindergarten experience. Did you just get a feeling of nostalgia, too? Kindergarten is an amazing and fun time that teaches you the foundations of reading, writing, and math. My students are getting that same experience, but now we're learning from home. I need the necessities to make sure my kiddos can get a wonderful education.

The children I teach are energetic, wonderful, hardworking students.

Some of them come from situations that no one should ever experience. They impress me every day with their awesome attitudes and desire to learn. We are a full-day kindergarten class at a Title I school. Most of our students qualify for the free breakfast and lunch program. The student population is 33% Caucasian, 26% Hispanic, 12% Asian, 11% African American, and 28% other.

My Project

Hmm... 2020. One of the most challenging years of my career.

Even though my students and I cannot be together in person at the beginning of the school year we are still going to push through and make it the best year yet!

I am requesting key materials to help make our distance learning experience much easier. Our class would benefit from a printer/scanner because it will allow me to scan the enrichment pages so that way I can upload them to canvas for my students, and I will also print journal pages to make monthly themed journals.

We are asking for other resources like the Storyteller Writing Box and the phonics journals during our reading block. The Storyteller Writing Box is especially helpful in getting our creative story telling juices flowing! The Pattern Block Cards and Nuts about Counting games will be used during our small group math instruction. It will help my students with number sense, and it will also help my students learn about shapes and counting.

The materials I am requesting will not only be helpful during our distance learning but they will also used for years to come when we are able to go back into the classroom (something I am hoping and praying for).
