Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a low social-economic environment and students who live in this type of environment miss out on opportunities in which students who live in stable housing afford. Many of my students live in the temporary housing system. These students are in need of daily interaction with their teachers and others who care about them. Many of them suffer from learning disabilities or deficiencies. Technology is the way to engage them and to keep them learning. I would be able to serve them better with updated technology from home. Additionally, I will be working remotely over the summer to support students who have fallen behind due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Updated technology will also help in this case.

My Project

The materials which I am requesting will help my students in many ways. I am seeking to utilize effective updated technology in my home. Technology which will allow me to access Google Classroom and Google Meet (google programs), printing, scanning, and faxing capability, and utilize other student-friendly technical programs to support distance learning. I desire to make a positive impact on my students by engaging them within the environment they already know and are willing to use. They are exposed to technology through social media and the use of videos and online video games they play. I will be able to interact with them and surf the internet for additional programs to support their learning through educational videos, educational games, and etc. As a teacher, I understand that it is important for me to meet them where they are. My students know and enjoy technology from personal daily experiences. I would like to remain effective in this capacity because technology is not going away. Technology is improving. But most of all, it helps children become more productive today-type learners.
