My Students

Our elementary school is an urban, Title I where a vast majority of my students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.

I love teaching my third graders.

These students face many challenges yet come to school every day ready to try their best. My most important role as their teacher at this crucial time in their young lives is to help them develop their sense of self and to learn how to be successful throughout their school career. They are bright, playful, and motivated kids, and I am honored to help them utilize the skills they already have to blossom as 3rd graders.

Like many districts, we will begin this school year virtually. I am ready to dive into this school year with a positive and I-can-do-this attitude and I hope my new students can as well.

My Project

My school district is providing students with lots of hands-on materials for distance learning. I need some materials to support teaching from home. I have done some research on what makes home teaching the most effective and almost everywhere I looked they suggested all of these items.

Teaching online in the spring was difficult, and I was unprepared, so I want to make sure this time it will be successful.

The computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse will make it easier to transition between pages and tabs that my students will need while we learn online together. The camera on my laptop is pretty bad. It is grainy and doesn't have much detail. The webcam will make it easier for my students to see me and anything else I'll need to show them from home. The magnetic whiteboard will be behind me when I teach. I can use it as I would normally in my classroom. The clip magnets will make displaying pages possible on the whiteboard.

If the student packets that the district provides to my students are lacking, I will launch another project including things that they will need. For now, I think having these supplies in my home office will also help to support their learning from home.
