My Students

I teach 10th through 12th-grade students in a gifted Medical Magnet in the San Fernando Valley. My students come from diverse backgrounds, many of which receive free or reduced-price lunch (approximately 78%) and/or are English language learners. My students are driven, creative, and are enthusiastic about their education. As they are a part of a Medical Magnet, most are eager to learn about science and how it relates to the medical field. I find that students are most successful when provided with opportunities to interact with science...to "do" science hands-on.

My Project

Students have more success retaining information and feel a greater sense of ownership of their educational experience if they "do" rather than memorize the work of others. Science provides the perfect opportunity to learn about scientific concepts and real-world phenomena through experience. This probeware will increase the accuracy of the data collected during our ecocolumn and water quality investigations.

I have a passion for biology and for providing the best possible learning experiences for my students.

I am confident that this probe will enrich the learning experiences of my students by helping my students create authentic data sets during their scientific research, using tools used in professional labs.
