This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a perfect example of the "at-risk" students that create the LAUSD population. All of the families in my classroom are classified as socio-economically disadvantaged and qualify for free lunch. The majority of the class (78%) are classified as ELs and, according to Dibels BOY scores, all but one of my students are performing a way-below benchmark. Now that we’re learning from home, my students need extra tools to support their learning!

My students are funny, eager to learn, and motivated!

They do not let their disadvantages discourage them from learning about the world around them. They are aware of their faults, however, they understand that they can only move forward. They are not afraid to make mistakes because they know that it is a step towards learning.

My Project

These materials will withstand the new normal of having to be continuously disinfected. As a first year teacher, I spent a lot of out-of-pocket trying to get materials that the students can share. However, now due to the pandemic each student will need individual materials.

Please help me give my students individual materials that will withstand being disinfected on a daily basis.

This project will help prevent out-of-pocket spending on my part to make sure my students have what they need to assist a hybrid schedule that the district is planning on rolling out.
