Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Science is the subject that allows us to learn about the world around us. But what do you do when you don't have the necessary materials to learn and discover? My students at D. Elementary are so inquisitive and eager to learn about the world around them. This is even in the midst of living in, sometimes, levels of extreme poverty. As many of the school districts in our nation, as well as our own, one of the largest in the count--Houston Independent School District, faces budget cuts, we are left, as teachers, to find avenues that allow us to get the job done with very little.

It is my desire to have a class bustling with STEM investigations for my students to discover and explore.

Science is one of the most fulfilling and life-long subject areas that have a true impact on our lives. Our future doctors, mathematicians, and scientists are right here at D. Elementary in the heart of the 5th ward of Houston Texas. Please support us by purchasing science kits that allow us to investigate from the beginning of the year to the end.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in my students lives by allowing them to have materials to discover and explore with, as well as maintaining knowledge attained through science concept building.

Science is so important to our everyday lives.

These materials will equip the science lab with most of what is needed to accomplish the tasks of teaching our young people of tomorrow, the joy of learning through discovery about the world around them.

The instant learning centers and STEM learning labs will help to assist students in attaining state standards in science and lead them into being successful in science in the future grade levels. Students will be engaged in small cooperative groups learning about the different facets of matter or energy, while the teacher will have a small group reviewing important concepts that may have been more difficult to understand. All these materials will assist in that endeavor. More importantly, the materials that have been requested will impart a permanent joy of discovering the world around them.
