Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is very student driven, and interactive. I encourage students to work independently or with groups, depending on their needs. Students in my class need resources to be able to access information about their interests, to learn more.

My students are a very high needs population who have been discouraged in previous educational experiences.

My school works to push students to find their passion and really achieve as much as possible. We are a small school that is a very close community.

My Project

Students will be engaged in daily lunch and after school sessions to discover their interests and make utility value out of science topics. Often students do not understand the need for learning specific scientific content because it feels unrelated to their lives. I will have students use the classroom chromebooks to do research and communicate with professionals in fields in which they show interest.

My students often leave my class (in 10th grade) without any idea what they want to pursue in college or career.

I want to enable this opportunity by providing classroom resources for them to learn more and be more independent.
