What kind of learning can be achieved from old materials that are not complete or are not age-appropriate? For many of my students, school is the only opportunity to learn, discover, practice, and apply concepts. These resources I have requested will help my stuents develop science skills and allow them to connect to the real world.
I am a kindergarten bilingual teacher.
I have 19 students who come from a low income community and are provided with free lunch. There is not much fundraising opportunities or money available to get the age-appropriate materials necessary for my students to learn and explore.
During the school year, we learn many science concepts, one of which being their five senses. The materials requested will help make learning about their sense more exciting, entertaining, and engaging.
My Project
I have requested color discovery tubes to enable my students to learn with their sense of sight and to also learn about colors. I have also requested a See it grow plant lab to help my students see how plants grow and change.
Other resources I have requested include a color-changing touch square set of 6, a feel and discover science bags set, and a science specimens sorting center to allow students to see how things are grouped and get them thinking about why they are grouped that way.
The sound discovery kit I have requested will allow my students to explore sounds of items and how these sounds may be similar and/or different. The magnetic science sorting center will allow all my students to explore and discover their individual senses of sight, touch, and hearing.
I have also requested a five senses instant learning center, five senses theme box, five sense theme books, and five sense activities CD-ROM in order for my students to learn about their senses in a new and exciting way. Technology is very fascinating to children, especially five and six year old children
Your donation to this project will make it possible for my students to fully grasp the science concepts by providing materials for them to really have opportunities to investigate and explore their five senses.
