My Students

Our students are always excited to work on activities that are hands-on! They come to school ready to work when they know they will get to participate in an activity or project that is active and engaging.

Instead of just presenting the facts, we use questions, problems, and scenarios to help students learn through their own agency and investigation.

Our students who learn or benefit from a visual representation of pi will appreciate this inquiry-based activity and the following collaborative art project.

My Project

March 14th is Pi Day! We would like our students to discover the value of pi during a FUN hands-on inquiry-based activity.

Inquiry-based activities will increase the students' understanding of the relationship between circumference and the diameter of circles.

Students will use the transparent bingo chips to indirectly measure the circumference and diameter of a large circle. They will then calculate the value of pi. The students will see that no matter how large or small the circles are, the circumference divided by the diameter will always result in pi! After calculating pi, the students will create an collaborative art piece using the coffee filters and markers.
