Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergartners are vivacious inner city kids who love to move, jump, play, touch and explore thier surroundings. My students come from all over the world. Many of them have been speaking in their native language all thier life. Now that they have entered our school, they are learning English as a second language along with learning math, science and social studies.

Our school is an inner city school servicing a large community of immigrant students and their families.

My students are at the heart of this community representing the beginning of the american dream as they take off in school.

My Project

What better way to stimulate student interest in sea animals than to see one live right in front of you. Help my students become scientists as they explore the New York Aquarium. My students will use their five senses to discover sea animals and ocean life through a hands on, real life experience. My students will learn how to observe the different exhibits by looking closely at animals and their habitats. They will read and gain knowledge about the different sea life. They will ask questions to further expand their learning experience. They will also develop an appreciation for nature and respect for our natural environment.
