Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I teach an Animal Science class for grades 10-12 that has about 40 students. In this college-prep class, students learn comparative anatomy and physiology of domestic animals. These students are learning the skills needed to succeed at a college-level lab science course. Because I teach in an urban school, we are limited to in-class experiences. Our school has very limited field trips, so the students are unable to go outside of the school to see domestic animals. This inhibits our ability to conduct realistic college-level labs. Students need a more hands-on approach to the information. Pictures and drawings are very limited. In order to help students get this experience, I need a replica of a disarticulated horse skeleton. This will help them understand the skeletal system of the horse. This will also require the students to use critical thinking skills in order to re-assemble the skeleton. I am asking for a disarticulated horse skeleton. This will help them see and and feel the horse bones. It will also help them learn horse skeleton anatomy by reassembling the horse skeleton themselves. It will also provide students an excellent opportunity to experience a realistic lab they may have in a college-level animal science course.
