Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Theater, Art, Music! What's That! My students need to be exposed to the arts. One way they can do that is through reader's theater shows. Now, I want them to not only be the actors, but to also be the directors.

I teach in an inner city public school located in the heart of Los Angeles.

The school is a Title I school, which means that the majority of the students receive free/reduced price lunch. I teach a wonderful group of third graders who come to school eager and ready to learn.

My Project

Theater, art, music, what's that! All we hear is "We don't have money for that!" I believe that the arts are very important. I would love to incorporate theater in my classroom. Having video cameras in our classroom will help my students' creativity. These video cameras will give them the opportunity to create their own stories, write them, draw them, and act in them. They'll be able to choose costumes and type of music they want in their scripts. My students will learn the importance of a plot in a story as well as learn how to incorporate the arts through acting. My students will be able to enjoy their own performances and critique themselves and become great writer, remarkable directors, and Oscar worthy actors.
