My Students

I’m a speech therapist at an elementary school. The student population is a mix of Asian and Hispanic children. Many of them come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and many are satellite babies. My students often don’t have a lot of exposure to the outside world. Their parents work hard and don’t have time to take them to places. Their vocabulary is limited. My job is to help with their expressive and receptive language skills. These are very respectful and hard-working children who deserve the best we can offer.

My Project

Teachers Pay Teachers has many digital resources that could be used for remote learning . Remote learning has made it necessary to purchase new materials that work well on the new learning platforms . My language impaired students need colorful visuals to help support them. In the past I have spent much of my own money to purchase materials such as reading passages with visuals and comprehension questions, following directions activities, sequencing activities and more. However, my materials have been used by the same students for years, and it is time to give them new and exciting materials so they can be better engaged in the lessons.
