Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income high poverty school, I see our student-athletes are faced with many challenges inside and outside of the classroom. We are looking to keep the students motivated to live healthy and active lifestyles by keeping them engaged in positive activities such as basketball. Having a healthier life can build self-confidence which is what the majority of our students need. Playing basketball will help these students cope with the everyday struggles in their own personal lives. Our students do not have the means to help fundraise for the team, nor do they have the contacts to reach in order to donate money for their team.

My Project

As a teacher teaching remote students with limited resources at home, my students need as many digital resources as possible. I also create a ton of resources that I would love to share with educators. While I try to create as many resources as possible, these gift cards will help me ensure that my students have access to additional digital assignments that will help them learn at home. Learning at home comes with many challenges for my students so I would love to make this transition as easy as possible for my students.
