My Students

My students are 21st-century learners who are eager to use all of the technology available to them! I teach 25 curious fourth-grade scientists in a small Title I school that has an amazing and supportive principal.

My students are eager to learn and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.

Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.

Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children. They have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.

My Project

Due to Covid-19 traditional teaching in the classroom will never be the same. The smart tracker holder I am requesting will allow me to give my students learning opportunities that are as close to being in the classroom as possible. It will project me teaching a lesson in my classroom and my students will benefit and appreciate "being in our classroom" even tho they will not actually be in the brick and mortar building.

Online learning is the new method of teaching right now and students still need the closeness and proximities of a teacher.

I teach remotely mostly from my classroom. The smart tracker will hold my iPad and will turn and follow me as I move about the room enabling me to Livestream my lessons. Standing in one place while teaching is not as productive as being able to move around the room, especially when I am teaching hands-on lessons in Science, Social Studies, or Math. I need to be able to use our Promethean Board and other resources to explain and model concepts taught. Students will be able to get back to having the real experience of being in a classroom. Teaching can go back to hands-on learning through the use of this type of projector. In addition, I will use this device to record lessons and activities I will purchase using the gift card from Teacher Pay teachers to produce asynchronous video lessons for my students that they can access whenever they want to review a lesson or if they are absent.
