My Students

The students in my classroom are students with learning disabilities. My class serves students with a range of disabilities such as intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance and other specific learning disabilities.

Many of the students in my class read at kindergarten and first grade levels.

They struggle with basic phonics and number sense and are multi-sensory learners.

They also come from low income neighborhoods. As a special education teacher, I have to make learning visual for my students so that instructions in science, math, English and social studies more engaging.

I need resources that will help motivate, reinforce and improve students comprehension so that learning is meaningful to them, as well as build their confidence and self esteem as they make educational success.

My Project

Students will be able to use the headphones to work independently and will enable them to develop stamina and stay focused.

The mouse will make it easier for students to scroll through their work with less frustration or fear of losing their work online.

Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their materials are going to work or not. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated and adaptive tools will empower students. Their confidence and literacy skills will increase as well as their desire to learn and use technology.
