Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of my students come from low-income families and qualify for free lunch. My students are friendly, caring, generous and inquisitive learners. The majority of the students in my school are English Language Learners, some with special needs.

My students are excited about language learning on a daily basis.

They are excited about the prospect of expanding their knowledge of language and cultures of other countries. They get a taste of learning about other cultures through Social Studies, but are eager to learn more! They constantly give their all to take control of their own learning. Every day they bring a smile to my face and remind me why I love to do what I do. It is truly a wonderful, rewarding experience teaching students who possess such a passion for the world!

My Project

With all of the changes we have had to make in the past few months due to the pandemic, I am looking for different ways to increase literacy and Spanish language exposure digitally.

This project will provide digital access to Scholastic News subscriptions that children can read or listen to in English and Spanish.

Scholastic News is wonderful because it provides rich non-fiction content which is age appropriate and engaging. Digital access will allow students access to the academic content by giving students the option to read on their own or have it read aloud to them. There are also videos, questions, and games the students can play to improve the quality and enjoyment of their learning experience.
