Digital Cameras for Expanding Young Minds and Exploring Creativity

My Students

My students come from all walks of life, many of which had to leave their childhood behind early due to the socioeconomic pressures that surround them. Many go to work after school has ended or go home to help care for their younger siblings. It is a very diverse group of students and their different points of view are remarkable, giving us lots to discuss and think about during our time together.

We are slowly building our digital camera resources for the art room; this donation will give these students an opportunity to explore digital media and technology, while adding a new dimension to their individual learning and portfolios.

My Project

This digital camera will give my students a new and professional opportunity to express their creativity in the art room while allowing them to learn digital technology and art techniques that they can use in the real world. We will explore projects that teach skills such as how to make stop motion animations. I want them to push themselves and think about their school, community and environment. Through digital media, they will have access to a new sounding board - a new voice and a new way to make a statement in their own artistic world.
