Help Ms. Mizrachi

We are a class of kindergarten, first and second grade students with special needs. Our needs are mostly speech impaired with a 12 student to 1 teacher and 1 paraprofessional ratio (12:1:1). A digital camera would be a great facilitating tool in developing language. We would use it to assist speech and requests. For example, a picture of the bathroom or water fountain would enable a student get his/her need across. We would take pictures of common and necessary words with the printed word under the picture to teach reading and sight words, such as teacher, house, mom, dad, bed, dog. We would use the camera to teach concepts with pictures of over/under, front/back. We would use it to document our own activities and write books about these situations, such as a book about our school day or our trip to the Green Market. A class with speech impairment needs would benefit immensely from this wonderful gift of a digital camera. Thank you for your support.
