Digital Art: Tools for Graphic and Web Design

Help me give my students industry standard graphic design tools. Digitizer tablets are a great introductions to graphic design and allows them to see what digital art and graphic design look like at a high-level, while also building our maker-space.

My Project

Graphic design and digital art can often be the gateway for students to become invested in technology, which can lead into a satisfying career down the road. But often the tools schools have feel very clunky and it drives students away from trying. With the right equipment Digital Art and Graphic Design can be far more intuitive and rewarding.

These pen tablets would allow students to take the skills they have already learned in art class and doodling and directly transfer that skill to digital formats.

Before I became a teacher I worked in Digital Media. I was Web Project Director for 5 years for a large media company. Later I transitioned into teaching. My current classes (Web Design/Robotics) combine both of these experiences and I want to be able to show my students what this skill looks like at a high level. Allowing them to use tools they may never have access to at home.

I'm currently using an old tablet that I brought from home. The students love it but with only having one - and it being my personal tech - it doesn't leave room to teach with it.

With these tablet I also hope to turn my room into more of a Maker Space. I already have students that come to my room, after they have finished work in other rooms, in order to use my robotics hardware for personal projects and I would like to extend that for Design and Digital art as well.
