My Project

The materials I am requesting, will transform my biology class into a hands-on learning environment. These items will allow students to actively engage in experiments and investigations, enhancing their understanding of complex biological concepts. For instance, using the microscope to fossil bricks and also to examine plant and animal cells will enable students to visualize structures they’ve only read about, solidifying their comprehension through direct observation. Additionally, hands-on activities like dissections and ecological experiments will foster critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills as students formulate hypotheses, conduct experiments, and analyze results.

My primary goals for this project are to enhance engagement by increasing student interest and motivation in biology through interactive, experiential learning opportunities.

These resources will help my students grasp key biological concepts by connecting theory with practical application, ensuring they retain and understand the material. They will

The students will explore the fossil bricks and this in turn will promote teamwork and communication skills through group activities, encouraging students to learn from one another and build a sense of community.

I want to equip students with the skills necessary for higher-level science courses and future STEM-related endeavors.

My students are unique in their diverse backgrounds and varied learning styles, which enrich our classroom environment. Many come from underrepresented communities and face challenges that can hinder their educational journey. Despite this, they exhibit remarkable resilience, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning. Their eagerness to engage in hands-on activities demonstrates a strong desire to understand the world around them. By providing them with the materials and resources they need to explore biology in a meaningful way, I can empower them to overcome obstacles and ignite a passion for science that may influence their future academic and career paths. I plan to use the twists and gummy bears as rewards.
