My Students

I have three different grade levels in one classroom. I am constantly trying to come up with new and fun ways for children to work independently as I work with small groups of students. An iPad would be an engaging way for students to practice many different skills that they need help to improve.

My students are Kindergarten, First and Second graders with a wide range of disabilities.

They are each unique and amazing in their own ways, and they have great potential. They love to use technology and an iPad would keep them motivated and focused. Some of my students come from homes without computers or tablets, and the use of technology in school is the only chance they get. Geography is a main focus in our social studies curriculum, a globe would benefit my students and help them understand the earth and where places are located. Big books are important to build students literacy skills. Since my students have a wide range of disabilities, they have a wide range of learning styles. Big books will help them visually during a classroom read aloud.

My Project

I plan on using the iPad for math practice, writing, reading support (such as audio books), & phonics games. My students love using technology and something that is new and different, they become focused, motivated, &excited about learning when they have the opportunity to try new games, websites, and programs. Because the needs and abilities of my students are so varied, I spend a lot of time with small groups while other students work and practice independently, an iPad will be a special treat for them, & it will help me tremendously. Students in my class are encouraged to select books throughout the day to build their literacy skills, big books will give them an opportunity to read together and use large pictures for context clues. Also, during a read aloud, the large pictures & pages will allow for students to see and identify parts of the story. Geography is an important part of our everyday lives, having a large globe will help my students identify places easier.

An iPad will help keep my students excited, motivated, and engaged.

Big books will also help them become excited, motivated and engaged in reading. A large globe will help them be engaged in learning our earth's geography. Most of my students struggle in one or more areas, and some of them come to me having had difficult school experiences in the past. Anything I can do to help them enjoy learning will make a difference in their learning and success!
