My Students

This year I will return from virtual learning to teaching fabulous fourth grade students in person again. Our classroom is diverse. My 25 students come from various backgrounds and learn in a variety of ways.'

I am always looking for new ways to engage students and incorporate hands-on learning, problem solving, and collaboration in the classroom.

It is going to be the best year ever! With your help, my students' greatest dreams can and will come true!

My Project

After a pandemic students are eager to engage with math manipulatives to develop concrete math concepts. We use a math workshop model in our classroom and students rotate through math stations. Although we do have math manipulatives in our classroom, we don't have enough for students to have their own personal sets just yet.

More math manipulatives would add to our hands-on, fun, math centers.

Hand2Mind has an amazing kit called Differentiated Math Center for Grade 4. It has differentiated center ideas for every math concept we teach that use math manipulatives. Each math concept has 3 ways to differentiate the task based on student abilities and needs. The kit contains a variety of math manipulatives that can be used throughout the whole school year such as fraction tiles and circles, centimeter cubes, blocks, and tiles (to just name a few). I think this kit would be an amazing addition to our math workshop whether we be adding and subtracting amounts of money, building a budget, finding equivalent fractions, or multiplying 2-digit by 2-digit numbers.
