Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school serves a diverse population of students and families with 100% eligible for free lunch. Many come from nontraditional homes, being raised by single mothers, grandparents and other family members. Language barriers can be challenging. In a mainly Hispanic speaking community, they all come in eager and ready to learn.

Each child learns differently.

Using different activities and games is away to enhance our out of the box thinkers. Hands on materials allow us to move away from paper and pencil work.

My Project

Every child learns differently. Using different materials to enhance learners helps them to achieve higher goals. STEAM activities help with imagination and creating new things. Gel mats are a fun way to practice writing. Paper and pencil writing can get tiring. Using gel mats engages students to want to practice letter formation, sight word practice and other creative pictures they would want to share. Sequencing is an important skill for kindergartners. Sequence cards allow the students to put pictures in order and explain what is happening. They can use these to then create stories. Using different materials allows your students to think differently.
