This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a fifth grade teacher in an urban setting, I teach an active group of ten and eleven year olds who are eager to learn. But, catching their interest can be quite challenging! Providing age appropriate informational materials such as TIME FOR KIDS helps correlate their lives to the real world.

My students come to school loaded down with life stories that are mind boggling.

Many of these kids have learning challenges and/or may be new English learners. But, they are ready to learn about what's going on in our city, the state, our country and the world!

My Project

Kids LOVE diving into magazines and often hold onto these treasures long after completing the lessons. Providing TIME FOR KIDS WORLD REPORT for my classroom will help connect the written word with real world news reports. To "piggyback" on that learning, we will do research on the internet, complete associated TIME FOR KIDS lessons and write/present "mock" interviews and reports.

Supporting this proposal will help provide my students with age appropriate information.

Nothing will delight me more than to hear my students start to "buzz" with "Hey, did you know...?" comments. I think TME FOR KIDS WORLD REPORT will open up their eyes to what's going on in the world!
