My Students

Many of the students in my classes struggle with reading. They work diligently every day in an attempt to achieve grade-level reading skills. This is made even more difficult by the conditions in which they live.

Most of the students in my classes come from low-income homes and many are ELL students.

Because of their low level of reading, they don't enjoy the process and the struggle continues. My goal, Language Arts teacher, is to not only help my students achieve grade-level reading skills but also to help them develop a love of reading.

My Project

It is that time again, time to restock my snack cupboard! Every year I like to have a cupboard full of snacks for my high school students. Food is one of life's most basic necessities, my students should not have to worry about where their next meal or snack is going to come from. I have asked for granola bars, tuna fish, chips, cheese and crackers and some fun treats to help keep their bellies full, and tide them over until they can get to lunch or home for dinner.
